What RF calibration covers
At radio and microwave frequencies, calibration addresses parameters like power, attenuation, and network parameters (s-parameters), plus signal-generator level and frequency accuracy, across broad frequency ranges. Connector care, impedance matching, and cabling all contribute to the measurement, so technique and controlled setups matter as much as the standards.
Automation is the practical enabler
Because an RF instrument may need verification at dozens or hundreds of frequency/level combinations, automated calibration racks drive the standards and the unit under test consistently, capture full data, and cut turnaround dramatically versus manual work.
